If you're considering enrolling, it helps to know what the training actually involves before you sign up. Here's a walk-through of the TESDA Caregiving NC II program as taught at every CleverCare branch.
The foundation
Training starts with foundation skills every caregiver needs regardless of setting: workplace safety, basic first aid and CPR, and infection control. These aren't optional extras. They're the base the rest of the program builds on.
Core caregiving competencies
From there, training covers the core units under the TESDA Caregiving NC II standard:
- ✓Caring for infants and toddlers
- ✓Fostering social, intellectual, and creative growth in young children
- ✓Caring for children in a family environment
- ✓Caring for elderly clients
- ✓Caring for people with special needs
- ✓Basic housekeeping and food preparation for clients
Supervised practicum
Classroom learning is paired with supervised, hands-on practicum hours, so by the time you're assessed, you've actually practiced the skills, not just studied them.
Assessment and certification
Once training is complete, candidates take the TESDA competency assessment for Caregiving NC II. Passing earns you a nationally-recognized certificate, the credential overseas placement agencies and local employers look for.
